asset library

Organize assets with folders

Build a folder structure your whole team can navigate, and move assets around by dragging them.

Folders keep the Asset Library navigable once it holds more than a few dozen files. They work the way folders on your computer do — nested as deep as you like, and rearranged by dragging.

Where folders appear

The same folders show up in three places, and all three do the same thing:

  • The folder tree in the left sidebar, showing the whole nested structure at once.
  • Folder cards in the grid, alongside your assets.
  • The breadcrumb trail above the grid, starting at Library home.

Library home is the top level — assets that are not in any folder live there.

Create a folder

  1. Go where the folder belongs

Open the folder you want the new one inside, or stay at Library home for a top-level folder.

  2. Select New folder

The New folder button sits in the toolbar. Name it and select Create — Bluprint opens the new folder for you.

You can also right-click any folder — in the tree or in the grid — and choose New subfolder….

Move things around

Dragging is the fastest way to reorganize.

Drop targets light up as you drag over them, so you always know where something is about to land.

Prefer menus? Select assets and use Move to in the selection bar, or right-click and use Move to — both list every folder in that Bluprint, plus New folder… to create the destination on the spot.

Rename, download, and delete

Right-click a folder — in the sidebar or the grid — for its menu:

  • Open folder
  • New subfolder…
  • Download as ZIP — packages the folder, every subfolder beneath it, and all their assets into one archive
  • Rename
  • Delete folder

When you are already inside a folder, the same options sit in the menu at the end of the breadcrumb trail.

A structure that holds up

There is no single right answer, but the structures that survive contact with a real team tend to be shallow and named after work, not dates.

By purpose — the most common:

Brand/ logos, fonts, colour swatches, lower thirds
B-roll/ reusable footage
Thumbnails/ source photos, cutouts, backgrounds
Sponsors/ briefs, assets, approved copy
References/ competitor screenshots, inspiration

By series, when a Channel runs distinct formats:

Podcast/ episode-agnostic assets

Common mistakes

Building the folder tree before you have any assets

Import first. The right folders become obvious once you can see what you actually have, and moving assets later is a drag away.

Trying to move an asset into another Bluprint's folder

Not supported. Assets belong to one Bluprint. If a file is needed in two Bluprints, import a copy into the second.

Expecting search to stay inside the current folder

It does not. Search covers the whole active scope, and hides folders while it is running. Clear the search box to get your folder view back.

Next step

Fill the folders you just built: Import assets.
