Custom Event Types

Create Channel-specific Calendar Event Types and adjust colors for the default event types.

Event types make calendars scannable. Bluprint includes default types like Filming, Release, Editing, Planning, Deadline, Review, and Reminder, and each Channel can add custom types for its own workflow.

Custom event types are useful for work your team repeats often:

  • Sponsor Review
  • Thumbnail Review
  • Guest Recording
  • Livestream
  • Voiceover
  • Brand Approval

Manage Event Types

Open Manage Fields in this Channel, then go to Calendar Event Types.

The Manage Fields window on Calendar Event Types with default and custom event types.

This page lets you:

  • Change colors for default event types.
  • Create custom event types for the Channel.
  • Edit or delete existing custom event types.

Create a Custom Event Type

Select New Custom Event Type, then choose a name, color, and icon.

The Add Custom Event Type form with name, color, and icon fields.

Custom event types are Channel-scoped. A custom type created in one Channel does not automatically appear in another Channel.

Create One From the Event Window

You can also create a custom event type while scheduling an event. Open the Event Type dropdown and choose New Event Type.

The Calendar Event Type dropdown with New Event Type available.

Common Mistakes

Creating custom types for one-off events

Use custom types for repeated categories. A one-off event can usually use a default type plus a clear title.

Using colors that look too similar

Event colors are scanning tools. Pick colors that are easy to distinguish in Month and Week layouts.
