The Search Window
Search across workspace records, guides, commands, and linkable items from one keyboard-friendly window.
The Search Window is Bluprint's command palette. It helps you jump to records, find guides, run quick search commands, and link one record to another without manually navigating through the sidebar.
Open it from the topbar search button or press ⌘+K on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows/Linux.
What You Can Search
Start typing and Bluprint searches every type at once. You do not have to tell it what you are looking for first.
Results arrive grouped by type, with the closest matches at the top of each group and the group that answered best listed first. An exact title beats a partial one, and something you opened recently beats something you have never touched.
Bluprint searches:
- Ideas.
- Scripts.
- Channels.
- Bluprints.
- Calendar Events.
- Thumbnail Projects.
- Automations.
- Assets.
- Video Reviews.
- Guides.
Idea results open the Idea window directly. Every other result navigates to the record.
When a group has more matches than it can show, choose Show all to narrow the window to just that type.
Narrowing Your Search
The target chip on the left of the input narrows results to a single type. It is a filter, not a required first step — leave it on All types to search everything.
Search Within One Bluprint
While you are inside a Bluprint, open the options button and choose Search within to switch between This Bluprint and Whole Team.
Outside a Bluprint the option is hidden and search always covers your whole team. If a scoped search comes up empty, the window offers to widen it for you rather than leaving you to work out why nothing matched.
Search by a Specific Field
By default Bluprint matches every searchable field for a type — searching Ideas checks titles and descriptions together.
To match one field only, pick a single type, then open the options button and choose Filter by.
For example:
- Ideas can search by Title or Description.
- Calendar Events can search by Title, Description, or Location text.
- Channels, Bluprints, and Thumbnail Projects search by their names or titles.
Two fields are only searched when you pick them explicitly, because they scan a lot of text and show a preview of the matching passage:
- A Script's full text.
- A custom field you have added to Ideas.
Finding Things From Elsewhere
Some pages have their own search box — the asset library, thumbnail projects, video reviews, and the Idea Catalog's find-in-view. Those filter what is already on screen; the Search Window finds things that are not.
When one of those page filters comes up empty, it offers to search your whole team for the same words, so you do not have to retype anything.
Command Mode
Type > or press ⌘+K while the Search Window is open to enter command mode.
Commands help you open the AI assistant, jump to guides, or clear recent searches without reaching for the mouse.
Guide Mode
Type ? to search the help guides. This is useful when you know what you want to learn but do not know where the guide lives.
Selecting a guide opens it in the in-app help drawer, or in a browser tab with ⌘+↵ or Ctrl+↵.
Link Mode
Link mode appears only when another workflow needs you to choose an item to connect. For example, when linking a Script to an Idea, the Search Window opens in a scoped mode where selecting a result links it instead of navigating away.
In link mode:
- The placeholder names what you are choosing for, such as Run automation with.
- The search target is usually preselected.
- Results exclude items that are already linked when the workflow provides that context.
- Enter links the selected result.
Opening a Result in a New Tab
Press ⌘+↵ or Ctrl+↵, or middle-click a result, to open it as a page tab instead of navigating there.
The tab opens in the background, exactly like a middle-click anywhere else in Bluprint, and the Search Window closes so you can see it arrive in the tab strip. Results that live outside a Bluprint — guides, for example — open in a browser tab instead.
Keyboard Shortcuts
- ↑ and ↓ move through results.
- Enter opens or links the selected result.
- ⌘+↵ or Ctrl+↵ opens the selected result in a new tab.
- ⌘+K or Ctrl+K switches into command mode.
- ⌘+HOME and ⌘+END jump to the first and last result.
- Esc closes the window.
