The Manage Fields Window
Configure the fields and related settings for every supported Channel entity.
Manage Fields is the Channel-level control center for the information attached to your work. Its new entity-first layout keeps Idea settings separate from Script, Calendar Event, Thumbnail Project, and Video Review settings.
Open Manage Fields
Right-click the active Channel tab and choose Manage Fields, or use a Manage Fields action beside an entity's fields. The same window opens at the relevant entity when launched from a field surface.
What each entity can manage
Select an entity to see only the sections that apply to it.
Fields
Each entity has one field list. Bluprint's built-in fields and the fields you create live in it together, and the order you set here is the order every editor for that entity uses.
Drag any field to reorder it. A few built-in fields have fixed positions and carry a lock; Title is always first.
What you can do to a field
Built-in and created fields differ only in what can be done to them, because a built-in field's type is part of how Bluprint works:
Unchecking a built-in field removes it from that entity's field surfaces across the Channel without deleting saved values — re-check it and they return. For example, removing Assignees under Scripts takes it out of Script field surfaces without deleting anyone's saved assignment.
That is a different action from Hide in this view in the Idea Catalog's column menu, which changes only the view you are looking at.
Required or always-shown fields carry a lock and cannot be hidden. Use New field to create one, and the search box to find a field in a long list.
Each field belongs to the entity selected at creation. A Video Review field appears under Meta & Fields, while a Thumbnail Project field appears in its Fields panel.
Idea categories and templates
The Ideas entity also owns:
- Idea categories, the reusable labels available to Ideas in the Channel.
- Idea templates, reusable starting points for new Ideas.
These live beside Idea field configuration because they shape the same Channel workflow, but they are not fields themselves.
Calendar Event types
The Calendar Events entity includes Event types. Use it to set colors and icons for built-in types or create Channel-specific types such as Sponsor Review, Voiceover, or Thumbnail Review.
Event types are not fields: the type controls how an event is classified and colored on the calendar, while fields store the information on each event.
Permissions and safe changes
Channel management permission controls which built-in fields are on and what order the list uses. A separate field permission controls creating, editing, moving, and deleting the fields your team adds.
